Gobble gobble
Last year we spent Thanksgiving in Chicago with Dave's parents. The leftovers we packed for the plane trip home were so good that I swore I'd roast a turkey just so we could have our own leftovers.
It took almost a year, but I roasted that turkey tonight. It was the first turkey I've cooked -- I've made many big feasts in my time, but never Thanksgiving dinner. For my first-ever turkey, it was pretty good. Although of course it's really all about the stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. The turkey itself is more like a garnish.
All I need now is a s'more.

My house still smells of the full-on turkey dinner I made for us today. My first time doing the whole thing, too. Same intentions: I wanted to enjoy leftovers at home!!...I've got an amazing cranberry sauce recipe to share with you. Don't let me forget to tell you about it. :) Also, the turkey becomes less of a garnish and more of a main course if you rub one stick of butter under the skin and fill the cavity with onions, celery, parsley & thyme before you roast it. Wowza!!
