Wheels and sunshine

Lucas Valley

I got my wish. The sun came back out today, and while it wasn't exactly warm, we had a gorgeous day for a ride. I got on my road bike for the first time since August (!) and enjoyed a fantastic 40-mile ride with a stop for the World's Best Scones at the midway point. Waited in line for ten minutes for a maple-oat-walnut scone the size of a baby's head. Totally worth it. (This bakery is in a town with a population of 800, but I think the town's population temporarily quadruples on sunny weekend days.) Sufficiently carbo-loaded (for a week), we pacelined a good chunk of the return trip and were back at our starting point in no time. I felt like I could have ridden forever. Although it was good that I didn't, because this was by far the longest ride I've done in about two months. But! I was just so happy to be outside and riding.
