For people with unlimited drawer space

Ridiculous kitchen gadgets I've come across lately:

Banana saver. My husband will say this is not ridiculous because he likes to eat half a banana and leave the other half in the fridge. This device "keeps a sliced banana fresher, longer by reducing exposure to air. Hinged banana shaped body with tiny teeth grip sliced bananas firmly in place and flat plate presses snug against banana face to minimize air contact." I say just eat the whole banana.

PB&J spreader. Do we really need a color-coded dual-tipped paddle to make a sandwich? Is cross-contamination of PB and J really that horrifying?

Moo Mixer chocolate milk mixer. It's a battery-operated cup. That mixes your chocolate milk for you. Oh wait, I'm sorry, it creates a "whirling vortex of power to thoroughly dissolve chocolate powder mixes allowing you to mix and drink right from the same cup." I admit I've had a lot of practice, but I've gotten pretty good at generating a whirling vortex with just a spoon, no batteries required, right in the glass I'm about to drink from. Now that's amazing technology.

You know, Alton Brown (of Good Eats, the food show) says it best: the only thing in the kitchen that's a unitasker should be the fire extinguisher. Anything else that only does one thing is a waste.

We pretty much ditched our entire kitchen, moving to the UK. At least, we got rid of everything electronic (mixer, blenders, slicers, toaster, waffle iron, frying pan). We've found that a toaster-oven, a coffee/spice grinder, and an immersion blender are about all that's really needed, particularly if your immersion blender comes with a balloon whisk attachment.

Microplane grater, knives, cheese wire, and eating utensils.

Nothing else, really, is needed.
