What I did today
- Rode my bike 100.1 miles. Hooray! (It was hard. Very hard. But dry!)
- Ran for an hour immediately after my ride. Awesome! (Felt good. Amazingly good.)
- Marveled when I remembered that my arm was still in a cast just over three weeks ago.
- Rode a few miles on skinny tires on a dirt-and-gravel trail through an enchanted forest. Did not fall over, get stuck in the mud, or tangle with wood elves.
- Thanked my lucky stars that I have friends willing to take this stuff on with me. Riding 100 miles alone sucks.
- Ate and drank 2200 calories while on the bike. Yikes. That's 300 cals/hour, which is about right.
- Realized at mile 90 that the metal parts in my wrist splint had shredded my handlebar tape. And also done some minor damage to the skin on my hand. Ow.
- Met this man. He is walking/running from SF to NYC. He asked me for directions at a stop light.
- Resisted the urge, as always, to stop for BBQ oysters and beer halfway through the ride. Probably not a good idea 50 miles from home. But it is soooo tempting. Someday I will do Tomales Bay right.
- Came home, showered, defrosted dinner, and collapsed onto sofa, where I am typing this. I predict I will be asleep in 20 minutes.
