John Philip Sousa is the only one on the list that I know, and that's only 'cause I had a relative who was in his band. ;)

I take it back - Michael Tilson Thomas. I can't STAND the man!

If ever you're up for an entertaining evening, find a night at the symphony when they've opened up the choir loft - which is most of the time, as they don't use choirs often. They sell the seats right before the show, so it's ideal: go a couple hours early, buy a ticket at the window for the choir loft, have dinner at Max's Opera Cafe, and head back for the entertainment. You'll have an unparalleled view, with the orchestra about 10 feet directly below you.

Michael Tilson Thomas doesn't actually direct - he's literally about 1/4 of a beat late! He's dragged along by the people he points at - they've already begun playing by the time he points at them!

We concluded that he's either a colossal moron, with his dancing and lack-of-directing self, or that he's doing it on purpose, so that he appears to be lined up with the sounds people are hearing way back in the balconies ... and went for the moron option.
