But does it still float?
This is what remains of a 125-foot-long, nearly 200-year-old ship that was buried in landfill under downtown San Francisco. It was abandoned along with hundreds of other ships during the gold rush. This particular hull was unearthed during recent excavation for a new condo project. I have walked over these decaying timbers dozens, maybe hundreds of times on my way from work to my gym and back. I never paused to wonder what might be under my feet.
