« But does it still float? | Main | With all of these crazy workouts, you might think I'm actually training for something. »
Five-item addendum to that Ironman race report, in no particular order
- In the six months leading up to the race, I swam 120 miles, biked 2,100 miles, and ran 450 miles. I also spent many hours riding my bike inside on the trainer while watching the extended Lord of the Rings DVDs, causing Dave much vexation.
- The longest bike ride I did was 124 miles. 124 miles! It was an organized 200k with great food and beautiful scenery. I thought I was going to die by mile 80, but my friends pulled me through (literally). The best ride I did was the 105-miler I rode alone. Go figure.
- As we drove into Coeur d'Alene, the region was hit by a freak storm with 70mph winds that knocked out the electricity in our rental house for 24 hours. We learned this immediately after spending $60 on perishable groceries. Dave got a black eye in a face-meets-cabinet incident in the pitch-black bathroom. Great way to start the week!
- We decided to skip this event. It was the night before the race after all.
- This is what my colleagues at work imagine I look like when I'm racing in a triathlon. They got the hair about right.
